Overview
Most states that license bail agents require pre-licensing education and ongoing continuing education (CE) at each renewal. Hours, renewal cycles and approved course topics differ. Many states also require ethics or specific legal-update hours.
California
- Pre-licensing: 12 hours of approved classroom education before the exam
- Continuing education: 6 hours of approved CE before each license renewal
- Licenses renew on a two-year cycle
- Bail fugitive recovery persons have separate training requirements
- Confirm current requirements and approved providers with the Department of Insurance
